Manta Alien 42 Bodyboard - White

Available in 42 Inch. This is a great low end board for beginners or first timers. The is designed for easy grip while being towed or riding waves. The Contoured deck keeps the rider centered on the board with handles for extra grip.

EPS Core stands for Expanded PolyStyrene. This core is stiff, light & water resistant. EPS is made using small expandable beads that inflate with heat.

These are expanded in a mould which has a smooth finish. The expanded beads trap air between the polysterene which gives it's lightweight property. 

This is the choice of core's for beginner boogie boards as the core is molded with rails & channels & only require the deck, rails & slick skin to be heat laminated to finish. This keeps the manufacturing cost down.

EPS is very brittle & the cells come apart under pressure, so the core can easily snap when bent to far. The smooth core finish does not bond well to the deck & slick, so can easily delaminate. The core also releases trapped air when exposed to heat which can cause bubbling under the deck & skin when exposed to sun or hot area's such as car's etc.

Double rails on a bodyboard refers the number of layers of rails laminated to the core. Most boards over AU $100.00 will have double rails as it improve's the overall strength of the board & provide's more grip for the outside hand down the rail. The inside rail is usually referred to as the "pinline" & the outside rail as the "rail"

Double rails usually come in ratio's 60/40, 55/45 & 50/50. This refers to the ratio of the bottom rail as opposed to the top chine. The bigget the bottom rail the harder it is to catch a rail but also harder to get an edge

60/40 is very forgiving to beginner's etc

55/45 is a good balance.

50/50 is very easy to catch edges but turns very fast & responsively.
